The Baton left Anglesey, home of the first WI in the UK,in January and will travel to all 69 Federations in the UK, Wales & the Islands before arriving at the Royal Albert Hall for the Centenary Annual Meeting in June 2015. Each Federation will hold it for 7 days before passing it on.
After arriving in Derbyshire on 18th June it made its way to the High Peak on Thursday, 19th where members from 35 WIs were holding a Picnic in the Park at the Pavilion Gardens. Arrival on Vintage Tractor driven by WI husband.
After its arrival, announced by the Town Crier, members transported it to the Bandstand where the Mayor of the High Peak handed it to Margaret White, the oldest member of Chinley WI which was formed in 1917, making it the oldest in Derbyshire.

At the end of the day the Baton was transported from the gardens on the Wonder of the Peak Tram
